“By the end of year 2023 Pawa was founded by three passionated owners Awa, Lokoko & Siku. The dream was to create dance studio for African street dance styles and creative space for everyone. 2024 January 29th PAWA opened the doors in Yrjönkatu and the first classes started running. In Lokoko’s and Siku’s first classes we had DJ Didi playing the music which brought something different and new to the classes.
Bussit Out battle took place in March in the PAWA Creative Studios and was a success. Bringing all the booty shakers around Finland under one roof. With our beautiful judges from the right to the left Melissa, Augusto & Siku. The host herself Awa.
We had our first PAWA Party celebration which Brought together families, friends & our community. We had performances from Vibe Crew, Awa and The Mpondas. Just before the event started Lokoko had finish building us our own stage to perform. He also built for us sliding door to seperate the dance studio from the reception.
PAWA collaborated with Fest Afrika the same summer and all three teachers were teaching workshops there. Tampere showed love and warmth towards the African dances.
Fall season facilities had been updated new speakers and lights in the studio. Membership got launched as well to enhance the growth of the community and building more strong connection with our customers as part of the PAWA community. On the right you can see our second PAWA party we hosted in the beginning of fall.
On our first year 2024 we had the great honor to host workshops for one of the best international known dance teachers. Limpopo from South Africa Amapiano dancer. Luna from Trinidad Soca dancer. Azula from London Bacardi and twerk dancer.
